"Base-ics"
The Elizabeth City Coast Guard presence consists of seven commands. Five - Air Station Elizabeth City, Support Center, Aircraft Repair and Supply Center, Aviation Technical Training Center and a small-boat station - are located on the base on the Weeksville Highway a few miles south of downtown. The base is the Coast Guard's largest aviation faciity and is the largest employer in Northeastern North Carolina. The numbers as of October 2007:
